Some horrible physical abuse happens (non sexual) although it is not graphically described.
Izzie can't remember why she hates fire or how she ended up with Jonathan and Miss Margaret but panic keeps her confined to the house she lives in with them. Jonathan is able to dare her to do some things because she hates to lose a challenge so as long as they can do the dare together Izzie can win. The story is about Izzie learning to face her past and her future but eventually she has to do it on her own not assisted by Jonathan or the other wonderful characters that you will meet as you read the book.
There are so many well written characters and exciting things that happen in this book but I can not talk about most of them without spoilers because the book is filled with lots of surprises and mysteries and I don't want to ruin the enjoyment for you. It is important that you not know what happened to Izzie until she starts to learn what happened to her. Even knowing character names or where they went can give away pieces of the puzzle. I promise that the story is well worth the read. There is romance. There is heart-break. There is action and adventure. There are definitely some bad guys! Faith plays a very strong part in the story. The story starts in England but ends up spanning two continents and Native American legends from the New World even get woven into the story.
Now I just hope Tammy Lash writes quickly so I can read more about Jonathan, Izzie and all the other characters I met in " White Wolf and the Ash Princess".
