Title and Author:
Absolutely True Facts About The Pacific Tree Octopus by H. L. Burke
Name of Reviewer:
Liesel is such a sweet little girl. She has a thirst for knowledge and desires to be believed. When she is laughed at because she didn't realize that the Pacific Tree Octopus is not real, will she allow it to ruin her vacation or will she stick to her guns regardless of what everyone else believes?
Even though this story is about a child, it has a good lesson for adults. Don't always assume you know better than little kids. Too often as adults we discount the insights and/or beliefs of children. Why must we insist that there are no Pacific Tree Octopuses?
This review is based on my second reading of this story. I read it the first time as part of the Fantastic Creatures (Fellowship of Fantasy Book 1). I think I might have enjoyed the story even more on this second reading.
This book is good for all ages although I think that younger readers will take different things out of it than adult readers do.
What mood did this book leave you in?
