Over the next several weeks we'll be spotlighting some of the authors who will be appearing in our Mythical Doorways anthology. Our first to step into the ring is A. J. Bakke to talk about herself, her cats, and her story Cosmic Cravings, appearing in our soon to be released anthology.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your writing:
My favorite things to do are write books, ride horses, and drink lattes! I am very much a cat person so I try to justify that by including things in my books about how cats are attracted to magical people. So when a person has a lot of cats around, it's a good sign! Haha. My books involve quirky humor mixed in with the adventure.
What inspired Cosmic Cravings?
Bree, the mouse-mage, is from my Worlds Akilter Series. And for some reason, she was wandering around in my head craving chocolate. Or maybe that was just me... Anyway, the whole doorways theme definitely got my creativeness going because there are lot of portal cross-overs as a general theme through many of my books because the world of Deart is hovering so close to Earth between dimensional veils.
Does this story connect in any way to your other works, either stylistically or by being in a shared universe? If so, how? If not, why did you choose this departure from the norm?
Bree and Amiah are both from my Worlds Akilter series. While Alyn and his dragon, Shade, are not from any other specific stories, his people exist in my Magic is to Be series.
Because the theme of this anthology is doorways, we really need to know how you would handle this hypothetical scenario:
You approach a wooden door at the end of a long, dark passage. It is big and heavy. Warmth radiates from the wrought-iron handle. You hear a strange noise rising through it. What's on the other side and what do you do?
First, I get my phone out so I can take a few pictures of the door because, how can I not?! Then I have to take some selfies in front of the door because that's very important. Then I would switch it to video so I can record my demise. Then...I open the door!
Where can we connect with you and find out more about your writing?
